Through Out Pregnancy, Birth & Beyond
This post is specially dedicated to Lady.
Whoever you are, I hope that the things I am going to share,
will help you mentally and physically.
Pregnancy blues vary from different person and the no of times you are pregnant.
I do not have much problem during my first pregnancy.
Everything went smooth.
But what scares me is the big difference in my first pregnancy and
the second that I'm having now.
1st Pregnancy- Love to walk. Even to the interchange, I will walk instead of taking a bus.
- Hate eating much. Only eat instant chapatti. Except for craving.
2ND Pregnancy- Hate walking too much. Get tired easily.
- Love eating. Eat 5 times more then I usually eat.
The only similarities is, I RARELY eat rice.
And I feel nausea from smoking menthol.
Dr Loke, a Gynae specialize in private hospital delivery
told me that we can smoke it find it hard or can't quit.
BUT, lessen it. Like 2-4 stick per day.
Lady, if you don't mind, telling me the week you are in now.
Like for me, I'm 14 weeks pregnant.
My baby's forehead, chin and nose are clearly defined.
It can turn its head, even wrinkle its brow.
Its 9cm long and is about 60g.
So if you tell me, I can tell you about your baby.
First trimester, week 1 - 13
You may discuss with your partner about the ante-natal care.
Private clinic or Govt Hosp like KK Hosp
I know, most of us fear KK Hosp upon hearing of their
bad services. So be fussy and strict with the nurses if they seem not to care.
Send email to complain. Without complains, the upper head of department won't know
of the bad services some nurses gave us.
We all want our pregnancy and labour moments to last long in our mind. And
have a happy time.
Eat healthily.
Asparagus is good as it prevent baby from having deformities or "Kecacatan".
Second Trimester, week 14-26
Look your best. Wear the cutest maternity dress.
Go swimming. Its the only excuse we have to wear bikini without being shy
of our big tummy!
Minor complains, like swelling ankle. Back pain.
Apply anti stretch mark cream, like Cocoa Butter.
Some of you may be allergic to it, like appearing redness and itch to your tummy.
Then go to any woman's clinic and get Seba-Med.
Apply skin softener to your body if it appears dry.
Third trimester, week 27-40
Plan your birth.
Normal? Epidural?
Avoid epidural if can.
You'll regret it like me.
My back hurts every time the weather or temperature gets cold.
Even in offices. Will need back support. More pillow even if you're sitting with your back resting at the wall. Will feel lazy.
Discomfort is normal.
As close to your EDD, you could feel pain and discomfort at your ribcage.
Its because your baby either gets near the ribcage or accidentally "kick".
For us, Malay.
Our mother will ask us to go 'lenggang perut'.
It help your baby from any unwanted position. Like a breech position.
Or we call it songsang. Lucky that I went for it. If not, I wouldn't know that my baby is stuck(terselit).
For me, my mum call it 'bunting tetek'
Pregnant of the breast.
My breast appear larger then my tummy. Even for my second pregnancy.
Feels sore, like when I first produce my breast milk.
My husband is very helpful. Or its two in one.
Help + get to see. Hehe
Kind enough to wet a towel with hot water or you can use a hot pack if you have.
Put it on your breast. Will ease a lot.
When labour days are near, pack a small bag.
Containing towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, maternity pad
FYI maternity pad are charge $5 per pack. Much cheaper if you buy it at any
supermarkets.
Don't forget your partner and your identity card.
Put the bag next to your bed or anywhere you and your family can easily grab
when you're about to go into labour.
Your partner plays a part in delivery moment.
Encouragement is much needed.
I get to watch Cows And Chicken on Cartoon Network
when in labour ward.
Partners are there to help not nuisance.
Help you in your need as in holding for you the oxygen mask, wipe your sweat.
Give an arm for you to grip on.
Not when you're in pain, and your partner gets busy
calling families and friends telling about you giving birth soon.
Later lah, abg oi..!
Breath in and out smoothly.
DO NOT RAISE YOUR BUTT UP WHEN YOU CAN"T STAND THE PAIN!!!
You can be paralysed!!
If you have stitches down there, dry it with a hair dryer.
Get your partner to help.
It will help to dry up the wound faster.
Not to near. Will burn your skin.
Or 'GangGang'
Your mum will know how.
Your confinement lady(mak bidan) knows how.
It cost $250 to do just the ganggang or they call it Princess V.
I can help you with that.
Hope the tips can help you.
